The artistic director of Haliciana Schola Cantorum, Ivan Dukhnych, was born in Lviv. He attended the Lviv Solomiya Krushelnytska Music Boarding School studying violin with Myroslav Sora, piano with Irena Halaj and composition with Myroslav Volynsky. He then moved to Switzerland in order to study violin at the Music Academy Basle with Adelina Oprean and organ at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis with Wolfgang Zerer and Felix Pachlatko. Courses in baroque violin with Chiara Banchini and in chamber music with Andrea Marcon complemented his studies. In 2012 he received his Master in Performance and in 2015 his Master in Pedagogy with honours. Ivan Dukhnych is active as a soloist and chamber musician, mainly in Switzerland and Ukraine.
